Sea World

There is nothing like a last minute trip to Orlando to throw fun into a weekend!  We registered for our free military passes to sea world, booked a cheapo hotel, and were on our way Saturday at 8am.  The drive down takes about 3 1/2 hours, so we stopped for lunch at Wendy’s just outside the park, and then proceeding to Sea World….thanks Busch parks for the free ticket!  It was a perfect day for it.  Warm – maybe 80 at the hottest, and partly cloudy.  We had a blast seeing all the animals and Zoe especially enjoyed the Shamu kid coaster a few time.  The park was surprisingly uncrowded for a saturday. There were alot of folks who must’ve come in the morning and then spent the afternoon waiting in the big stadium for a concert by some – I don’t know who – singer.  He’s also coming to Wild Adventures if I figure out the music is worthwhile.  Anyway, wait times were not exsistant for rides and we got pretty good seats at the shows even though we would run in right as they began.  Zoe’s favorite was the seal & walrus & otter pirate show.  Avi also seemed to enjoy himself.  A long time in the sandbox at the big splash and playground pooped him out.  Both kids fell asleep in the car on the way out of the park.  We picked up some chinese takeout and then checked into our hotel. The Champions World Resort is actually a great hotel – rooms were bigger than those at Disney and it had a frig and microwave.  I wasn’t sure what we’d get for the mil rate of $27.90 a night, but it had 3 great heated (like bathwater!) pools and a nice playground, too. Once the kids woke we swam in the atrium-covered pool for a a nice night swim.  Avi loved it!!  He wouldn’t stop squealing.  Zoe, too had a blast.   This morning it was rainy so we hung out in the hotel watching TV, had some breakfast, and drove home.  I’m so glad we were able to take a bonus family trip this weekend!
