For approximately 30 minutes the entire grass patch had sun; the deck was still shaded.  This is notable as it’s been since November since there has been sun back there.   The house faces nearly exactly south and blocks all direct sun back there from equinox to equinox. Luckily, the vacant lot past the yard is still empty and it gets sun all winter so the kids play there.
